Agilitas, the pan-European mid-market private equity firm, is pleased to announce the strategic acquisition of M&N Electrical & Mechanical Services Ltd (‘M&N’) by its portfolio company Hydro International (‘Hydro’), a leading global provider of products, services and technology for the treatment of wastewater and the control of stormwater.
M&N is the leading nationwide UK provider of combined services and products for the initial stage of wastewater treatment, known as ‘headworks’ or ‘inlet works’. M&N provides essential support to some of the country’s largest water and sewerage companies in the UK municipal sector by maintaining, servicing and refurbishing headworks equipment. It allows its customers to fulfil their critical water treatment obligations, extend the lifespan of the assets and reduce costs.
Since the buyout in 2018, Agilitas and management have worked to implement strategic step-changes and accelerate Hydro’s expansion into related services and technologies. As part of this strategy, Hydro recently acquired Oxford Scientific Software which enables engineers and analysts to create and run complex models of water resource systems. Following the acquisition of M&N, Hydro becomes the UK’s leading provider of headworks solutions and will be able to offer a wider range of maintenance and support services to more of its wastewater customers.
Stuart Spinney, General Manager at M&N, said: “M&N and Hydro are both strategic partners for wastewater treatment companies. We look forward to adding our capabilities to Hydro’s offering and working with our new colleagues to help our customers operate more effectively and efficiently.”
Michael Jennings, CEO at Hydro, said: “I am delighted to welcome M&N to the Hydro family. The headworks services offered by our new colleagues are a natural fit for our business and I am excited about the possibilities for expanding our offering in this essential area.”
Tor Midsem from Agilitas, said: “The acquisition of M&N is an important next step in expanding Hydro’s ability to help improve water treatment processes. M&N will allow Hydro to serve better its wastewater and sewage customers and offer even more support at a critical stage of the water treatment process.”
Martin Calderbank, Managing Partner at Agilitas, commented: “M&N is a strategic acquisition that will accelerate Hydro’s transformation”.
